BEN VAUTIER
1935 - 2024
Biography
Ben, born Benjamin Vautier, is a post-modern avant-garde artist who belongs to the Mail Art and Fluxus movements. Renowned for his writings, texts, signatures and performances. Ben chooses to workshop the world with his "living sculptures", his "Tas" or his writings, which suddenly appear in the viewer's field of vision, drawing a smile and often giving food for thought. Ben conveys a strong concept that leads him to produce "idea art". Throughout his career, he has almost obsessively defended the theory that, in art, it's not the beautiful or the ugly that counts, but the fact of bringing something new to the table.
