ROGER CAPRON
1922 - 2006
Biography
Roger Capron is a French ceramist who, along with Robert Picault and Jean Derval, played a part in the renaissance of ceramics in Vallauris. From 1955 onwards, Roger Capron's work focused on the creation and production of earthenware tiles and tables, living up to his master René Gabriel's motto of "making beauty within everyone's reach". Following his collaboration with Jean-Michel Carré and the closure of his factory in 1980, Roger Capron continued his work in his Vallauris workshop, and in 1990 began a new approach with one-off pieces, moving closer to sculpture.
