GEORGES FERRATO
1949
Biography
A life of adventure. This is the thought that springs to mind when reading Yvon Taillandier's memoirs. A man who occupies a special place in the artistic landscape of the 20th century. Successively painter, sculptor, writer, art critic, essayist, traveler and collector.
Throughout his life, he never stopped choosing, letting himself live and breathe
of his encounters.
"I don't do free figuration, I do liberating figuration".
I remember this phrase that Yvon slipped into my ear before leaving him
sunny summer day in 2016.
Yvon Taillandier is undoubtedly one of the forerunners of the "free" style of painting that emerged ten years later in the early 80s, in protest against minimalist art.
in opposition to minimalist and conceptual art, embodied throughout the world by artists such as Frenchman Robert Combas, American Keith Haring, German Ralf Winkler (known as A.R Penck) and even Argentinean Antonio Segui.
